Concept

The residential house from the 1930s was renovated and extended with an annex on its northern side. The existing structure, with its square floor plan, was complemented by a simple, new volume that occupies roughly half of the original footprint. From the outside, the extension appears as a distinct architectural element. Together, the old and new volumes form an ensemble that connects past and present in a respectful yet confident way.

On the ground floor, a spacious living area was created with a seamless transition between the existing building and the new extension, opening generously toward the garden. On the upper floor, the sleeping area was expanded with an additional room for the five-member family.

Through an intensive design process, tailor-made spatial solutions were developed to suit the everyday life of the family.
