Concept

The project on Herthastraße consists of two six-story buildings (front and garden house) with a total of 35 residential units. In accordance with planning regulations, the two new volumes integrate into the logic of a typical Berlin Gründerzeit (late 19th-century) block.

The floor plans are designed as three-wing layouts, featuring two larger through-apartments and one smaller, south-facing apartment. The through-apartments are characterized by a living hall that extends from the north to the south façade, encompassing the living, dining, and kitchen areas. The smaller one-sided apartment is developed as a “mini-loft,” with an inserted wet cell block serving as a structuring element.

The ground floor is slightly elevated on the street side. This raised ground floor condition, combined with the typical front garden zone of Herthastraße, ensures privacy for the apartments located here.
