Concept
The competition brief offers the opportunity to reinterpret the urban townhouse by uniting multiple functions – living, working, childcare, and mobility – within a single, compact volume. The result is a contemporary building that reflects the complexity and diversity of urban life today.
The urban planning framework requires the integration of all uses into a compact perimeter block structure. This concentration allows for a clearly structured urban building block with high density, a diverse mix of uses, and high-quality open spaces.
The design responds to the human scale on multiple levels: The large volume is broken down into smaller, house-like units. Varied building heights and setback joints articulate the massing and create a readable, approachable structure. The result is a coherent overall form that combines urban presence with a sense of individual scale.
