Concept

The former Telekom site, including a 14-story office tower and surrounding buildings, is to be transformed into a residential quarter featuring a kindergarten and minor commercial uses. The existing high-rise, a prominent landmark in Konstanz, shapes the district’s identity. Visible from the historic city center, it forms a visual link along the railway line to Singen.

The task requires the conversion of the tower into a residential building, while most of the surrounding structures are to be demolished and replaced. Our urban design proposal responds precisely and sensitively to the site’s spatial conditions through the positioning and scale of new volumes. The existing high-rise is surrounded by smaller-scale structures that connect to the human scale of the adjacent residential neighborhoods.

To capitalize on the tower’s exceptional location, we propose extensions on its east, south, and west sides. These generous, cantilevered living spaces offer spectacular views of Lake Constance, the Alps, the historic city of Konstanz, and the Rhine River.
